Group Summary

About the Role

The Controls Engineer will assist in developing equipment standards and verification that sourced equipment meets established standards. They will provide launch and production support for assigned equipment and support Operations on troubleshooting complex issues in assembly, molding and coatings.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ability to edit and troubleshoot PLC program, programs for alarms, PID loops, HMI features, counters, etc.

  • Ability to research and learn programming and troubleshooting techniques on specialized equipment (ie. Servo controllers, frequency drives, etc.)

  • Knowledge and implementation of Electrical Safety code and control reliable safety circuits.

  • Support and participate as required in preventive maintenance of equipment and improving up-time.

  • A continuous improvement mentality and the ability to apply this personal capability and knowledge to the companies’ processes, products, and associates (mentoring).

  • Excellent planning and organization skills with effective verbal and written communication skills.

Who we are looking for

  • Ability to interpret and design electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings.

  • Aptitude for working with numbers with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Programming of Programmable Logic Controllers with advanced functionality (PID, motion control, serial and Ethernet communication, etc.)

  • Understanding of internal data acquisition system – Solidat, Trans4M, QSI, Pro8

  • Experience with various Maintenance and tooling activities, knowledge of product design and production systems.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of Customer Specific requirements (TS16949 / ISO9000 / ISO14001 / OHSMS) and industry Standards.

  • Programming experience with a variety of PLC programs, (such as Allen Bradley)

  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years Engineering and Manufacturing experience in troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment as it relates to machine logic controllers.

  • Experience in an Integrated Product Development Team environment

  • Experience in troubleshooting equipment electrical/hydraulic/mechanical issues.
