How you make a difference

The Risk Manager plays a vital role in creating a safer, more proactive environment by analyzing events, identifying trends, and keeping key staff informed about critical incidents. Through expert evaluation and strategic recommendations, this role helps minimize future risks. Additionally, the Risk Manager leads orientation and training sessions on risk management and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of awareness and preparedness throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Management Program Coordination : Coordinates the Risk Management Program and Individual Served Safety Plan, including facilitating the annual review and revision of the facility’s Risk Management Plan and related policies.

  • Incident Investigations : Conducts and/or manages timely investigations of adverse incidents, including allegations of rights violations, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and grievances, and assists with audits and regulatory investigations as assigned.

  • Reporting and Data Analysis : Prepares and submits accurate reports to leadership, manages the risk management database, and analyzes aggregated incident data to identify and report trends for improvement.

  • Training and Leadership Support : Develops and delivers training on risk management regulations and safety programs, and provides technical support to leadership for implementing risk reduction strategies.

  • Safety Oversight : Leads post-incident analyses, Quarterly Suicide Risk Assessments, and the Annual Hazard Vulnerability Analysis, and serves as Chairperson for the Patient Safety Committee.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Required: Associate’s degree.

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.

Experience:

  • Required: Two (2) years current experience in risk management or three (3) years current experience in a health care or mental health setting.

  • Preferred: Knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) or other accreditation system and patient safety.

License:

  • Preferred: License in state specific to risk management.
