MASAC (Massachusetts Alcohol and Substance Abuse Center) is a Section 35 treatment center located in the beautiful Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth, MA. This role is working with individuals with substance use disorders.
How you make a difference
The Certified Nursing Assistant provides basic and specialized nursing care functions in accordance with local and regulatory policies and procedures, under the supervision of a licensed nurse. They collaborate with other members of the healthcare team and custody officers in a correctional setting to plan and implement patient care activities. Additionally, they float between units after completing a general orientation to ensure adequate nursing staff for patient care areas.
Key Responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and document patient care activities accurately.
Record and report vital signs and patient data in a timely and accurate manner, and report any abnormal vital signs to the licensed nurse immediately.
Complete all assigned duties, prioritize work flow, and attend meetings and training sessions as directed by the nursing supervisor.
Demonstrate professional behavior and responsibility, maintain patient and employee confidentiality, and ensure safe and compassionate patient care.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising nurse, including organizing and tracking medical supplies and equipment and orienting new staff members to the unit.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of training course for Nursing Assistants.
Experience
Work requires level of knowledge of basic patient care methods, procedures, and techniques.
Ability to handle a variety of simple tasks that are routine in nature, while keeping work flowing in an orderly manner.
Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Must be able to pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position, if working with specific patients.
Ability to express thoughts logically, in English, in both written and verbal form.
Ability to use computers and the typical software such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and various database systems.
Licenses/Certifications
- Current certification in the state of practice is required.
