Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Lead will report to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for implementing technical oversight programs that help maintain food safety and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This includes conducting risk-based facility audits, providing guidance and coaching related to food safety practices and overall food safety compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform routine checks for food safety and quality.

• Point of contact for providing QA services and coordinating QA resources internally.

• USDA regulation knowledge and oversee

• Back-up USDA document reviewer

• Interact and answer inquiries from USDA inspector other regulatory bodies.

• Have open communication with other departments leadership to solve problem and resolve conflicts.

• Manage/support shut down activities to give a clean hand off to sanitation.

• Conduct chemical analysis of products to ensure the product is within the required pH, Brix, Viscosity and moisture levels

• Conduct Hazard Analysis / Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Critical Control Point (CCP) verifications

• Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and other prerequisite programs

• Ensure Tech’s are on task and completing check in a precise and timely manner.

• Monitoring and evaluating the adequacy of quality assurance standards

• Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities

• Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues

• Act as a back-up to QA Supervisor.

• Collect and compile statistical quality data

• Ensure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements

• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation of laboratory and all its equipment

• Comply with all Company rules, regulations, and policies.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Additional Skills:

• Must be 18 years of age or older

• Experience in Quality Assurance and HACCP certification preferred

• Knowledge of applicable office software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

• FSMA training

• Minimum 3 months experience working in a related field.

• Ability to build and sustain relationships with a variety of people and businesses.

• Prior Leadership, communication and team building skills

• Strong ability to work independently with little supervision

• Ability to communicate technical, scientific, and regulatory information, both verbally and written

• Ability to compile, analyze, and present collected data in summary form as well as being capable of performing a variety of tests

• Interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to make presentations

• Facilitate meetings, probe for root cause, and provide training to various groups within the organization

• Work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary

• Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

• Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Travel:

• None Required

Work Environment:

• Individual will be subject to production and warehouse environment (Wet environment with temperatures ranging from 38 to 40 degrees)

• Medium/ High noise levels from operating machines and cleaning equipment

• Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts

• Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to enforce Good Food Manufacturing (GMP’S) processes

• Frequently required to use personal protective equipment when using any cleaning chemicals

Physical Requirements:

• Able to communicate information accurately to others

• Able to detect and discern sounds accurately in order to exchange information

• Able to hold stationary positions for extended periods of time

• Able to move throughout workspace frequently

• Able to observe details at close range, perceive colored images as well as effectively perceive computer generated images on a screen

• Frequently operates computer and other office productivity machinery

• Able to work in excess of 40 hours that may occasionally include weekends

• Ability to life 50 lbs. and work in refrigerated environment
