North Country Workforce Partnership Inc Disability Resource Coordinator in Plattsburgh, New York

The North Country Workforce Partnership, Inc. (NCWP) is a 501(c)3 organization that serves as a regional workforce and economic development leader connecting businesses, organizations, and our workforce, and to support the efforts of the NC Workforce Development Board (NCWDB) in Clinton, Essex, Franklin and Hamilton counties through workforce development activities.
The Disability Resource Coordinator (DRC) is a full-time position mandated by New York State Department of Labor and the US Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration, in partnership with the Ofc. of Disability Employment Policy and the National Disability Institute. The individual will be an employee of the NCWP in a position funded through the NYS SCION program. The role of the DRC is to work towards systems change for individuals with disabilities (IWD), including youth and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, by: Increasing the capacity of regional programs to serve IWD; Identifying, facilitating and leveraging disability-related resources and partners to support collaboration around a job seekers employment and/or training opportunities; Advising the workforce dev. system on how to effectively promote the participation of IWD in existing systems and programs; Providing training and support on key topics around compliance, accommodations, and available programs; Assisting in the recruitment of IWD and helping ensure access to needed program and services; Emphasizing system capacity-building and coordination, that prioritizes systems change and enhancing the overall services available for IWD. Additional responsibilities: Engaging stakeholders from service delivery systems to enhance inclusive career pathway entry, advancement, and related outcomes; Coordinating career pathways services across disability-focused and generic agencies through local Integrated Resource Teams (IRTs); Engaging businesses to increase awareness of accommodations, the business case for hiring IWD, and providing work-based experiences and mentoring; Supporting collaboration between internal employees, businesses, and community partners to aid project activities and long-term sustainability; Interested candidates should feature the following qualifications: A strong belief that IWD, including intellectual and other significant disabilities, can and deserve to work in their communities; Knowledge preferred of laws, policy, and procedures relating to EO and non-discrimination employment, SSA work incentives, and how work affects government benefits. Credentials to provide work incentive counseling is preferred; Knowledge of local community agencies, providers, stakeholders, and other disability resources; Relevant program management experience; An ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders, including business leaders, customers in minority groups, and workforce development staff; Strong oral and written communication skills; Computer and digital literacy with a strong ability to conduct remote meetings. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree and/or 3 to 5 years' experience preferred in education areas or related roles that demonstrate alignment with qualifications. Salary from $55,000.00/year - $63,000/year Competitive benefits package Schedule: Generally 8:30am to 4:00pm, M-F; early morning or evening travel may occur Ability to Commute/Travel: Reimbursed travel required to meet with businesses, organizations and clients (<25% of time). Office hours may be required in Malone, Plattsburgh, and Elizabethtown (NY); as determined by availability and need. Remote work and flexible hours may be available.
