Dow has an opening for anAnalyzer Engineerlocated inPlaquemine, LA. The Analyzer Engineer will lead process analytical projects with capital equipment costs ranging from $ 2.0 MM to $ 30.0 MM. The incumbent will provide Process Analytical technical support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance. The Analyzer Engineer understands and implements Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices within the Process Analytical Discipline. This person collaborates with the Hardware Disciplines within Engineering and Maintenance are comprised of the following disciplines: Buildings, Civil, Electrical, Instrument, Materials, Mechanical, Process Containment Equipment and Piping. Hardware Disciplines support both projects and technical support teams as an inspector, designer on large projects or lead for their discipline on projects. This position requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge Process Analyzer Systems and capabilities.
Specification packages for process analyzers and associated infrastructure
Capital equipment cost estimates
C&SU (commissioning and start-up) schedules and resourcing plans for internal and external C&SU resources
Input to P&ID development to accurately represent process analytical systems
Input to project scheduling activities as relevant to process analytical milestones
Management of process analytical suppliers to include factory acceptance testing activities
Management of Analytical System Integrators to ensure sample systems are designed and fabricated properly and appropriate materials and technologies are used.
Initiation of peer reviews of process analytical engineering documents for major capital projects.
Serving as subject matter expert related to process analyzer engineering activities such as; drawing reviews, sample system designs and analytical supply/return points.
In inspector and designer capacity:
Ensures drawings and specifications are clear and meet the needs of the business.
Ensures reviews completed on time and that drawings and specifications are followed by fabricators, constructors and maintenance contractors, when providing inspection.
In project lead capacity:
Serves as the leader of Process Analyzer aspects of the project. Has accountability for project results and for the implementation of and adherence to all relevant work processes and best practices.Drives front end loading to ensure clear scope definition along with establishing plans and schedules to enable adequate control during execution.
Directs activities within their discipline and coordinates activities with other disciplines.
Leads the completion of deliverables provided to estimating and reviews output of the estimate to ensure an accurate reflection of scope.
Ensures their deliverables meet the needs of the project: function as intended, on time and within budget.
Leads technical contract package development and supports implementation.
Uses and enforces project change management program.
Coaches team members within the discipline and outside of the discipline and provides guidance to less experienced personnel in the local office and for the global organization.
Drives economic designs to ensure the best value is delivered to the business.
Ensures safety in design.
Associates Degree or 4 years+ military training/experience is required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Science related field is preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of engineering, manufacturing or related experience is required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Knowledge of at least one of the following Analytical Techniques: Gas Chromatography, Titrations, IR, NIR, UV, Raman (related skills such as Analytical Modeling). In addition having some chemical process experience is strongly preferred.
Multi-disciplinary team collaborations is preferred. Strong teamwork.
Strong communication skills and familiarity with developing communication plans.
Direct experience with technology/application development and experimentation.
Direct experience with project documentation.
Knowledge of sample system design, analyzer engineering principles and project management.
