Engineer V, Software Architect

As Omnicell strives to position itself as a premier digital healthcare company, the Software Architect will play a leadership role in support of those efforts by leading, creating and extending the Omnicell 340B products. This person serves as the team leader driving innovation and is a highly skilled software designer and developer who can apply industry and corporate best practices to produce quality applications. This person applies their practical and theoretical knowledge from Computer Science and previous experience in Healthcare or a related industry.

Responsibilities

  • Designing major aspects of the architecture of an application, including components such as user interface, middleware, and infrastructure.

  • Ensure software is designed for high availability, reliability, scalability, and performance.

  • Create and maintain application architecture and solution design documents.

  • Providing technical leadership to the application development team

  • Performing design and code reviews to ensure standards and best practices are followed.

  • Investigate and lead new technology adoption

  • Track technical debt and ensure unintentional technical debt is not created

  • Establish and ensure application design standards are maintained

  • Work as part of a team to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software

  • Collaborating with other stakeholders to ensure the architecture is aligned with business requirements

  • Oversight and approval of all product changes developed by their team before formal launch

  • Oversee and support the coaching and training of team members to ensure high levels of productivity.

  • Actively seek ways to improve business software processes.

  • Use a proactive approach to common challenges and by continually researching best practices in coding

  • Ensure software is being designed with best security practices and adheres to industry standard security frameworks.

  • Troubleshoot coding problems quickly and efficiently to ensure a productive workplace

  • Understand how Omnicell solutions meet our customers' needs and how our suite of products are used across the continuum of care

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience working on large-scale software projects

  • 3+ years’ experience with a microservices architecture

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity and open source technologies

  • Experience overseeing development of multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience analyzing code for weaknesses and errors, and overseeing plans to improve them

  • Deep experience building web-based applications and RESTful API’s

  • Experience with database design and data modeling

  • Expertise in using design and refactoring patterns

  • Experience in integrating applications with existing systems.

  • Expert knowledge in the following technologies: .Net/C#, SQL Server, Javascript, CSS, HTML, REST API’s, XLM and UI Frameworks Angular and/or React, Message Bus and Cloud Technology - Azure (Preferred), AWS.

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and Version Control tools

  • Experience with SOA and Microservice architecture.

  • Experience with development of cloud-ready applications.

  • Experience with web application development/single page application development (Preferable using Angular)

  • Experience designing secure software systems

  • Expertise in automated test practices to improve product quality and reliability

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills including attention to detail.

  • Proven interpersonal communication skills

  • Proficient in Agile/Scrum software development lifecycle management

  • Understanding of Internationalization / Localization

  • Ability to lead software development and testing teams

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 years’ experience in software engineering with a degree; 15 years’ experience in software engineering in lieu of a degree

  • 3-5 years of experience as a software application architect for enterprise level external customer facing web-based applications.

  • 7+ years of experience designing and developing software applications

  • 5+ year of Experience in C# and the .NET Framework/ .Net Core

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Master’s degree

  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect and/or Developer Certification

  • 2+ years of experience in Angular 4 or above

  • 2+ years of Azure experience

  • Experience with Containers is a plus.

  • Experience in Healthcare or regulated industries a plus

Work Conditions

  • Hyrbid environment.

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
