JPMorgan Chase Software Engineer III (API Gateway/Scripting/AWS) in Plano, Texas

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking division, you will be expected to leverage your extensive knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes. Your role will involve applying your technical expertise and problem-solving skills across a range of moderately scoped applications. You will be instrumental in creating the next generation of API Platform for Chase, contributing to the growth and development of various aspects of the API Platform. Your collaboration will be crucial in advancing our API product strategy, enabling our partner developers, internal developers, and business decision-makers to innovate and deliver products to our customers more efficiently.

Job responsibilities:

Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting

Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance

Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications

Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation

Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity

Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development

Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience

  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability

  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages

  • Demonstrable ability to code in one or more languages

  • Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle

  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security

  • Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

  • Practical cloud native experience

  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Experience with products related to APIs, SDKs, first party and third-party Developer Platforms and IAM (Identity and Access Management).

  • Experience in API Management platforms, API Gateways, API Catalog and a deep understanding of API technologies - REST, GraphQL, gRPC, in-depth knowledge of HTTP, HTTP Proxies, API Proxy, web servers e.g., Envoy, NGINX, HAProxy.

  • Strong knowledge of one or more scripting languages (e.g., Scripting, Python, etc.)

  • Knowledge in integration technologies (e.g., Kafka), data pipelines and data engineering.

  • Strong understanding of Site Reliability Engineering.
