Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time NPI Technician role to join our growing and dynamic Manufacturing Engineering team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator.

The successful NPI Technician candidate will be part of a team working to expand a strong and proven concept that has solid growth potential, with the opportunity to create substantial shareholder value. You will be responsible for performing advanced system level troubleshooting along with repairs to component level on mobile video, signage, and lighting products for Luminator's transportation partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The successful candidate will have the ability to challenge the organization effectively, resolve problems, and willing to provide a hands-on approach in finding solutions.   • Provide support to suppliers and manufacturing plants to resolve technical issues related to the manufacturing of our products.

  • Provide technical support to the Engineering team and NPI Coordinators during the various phases of project execution.

  • Design test benches requested by the Engineering team and preparing the documentation for their manufacture.

  • Execute the assembly of the prototype units requested by the NPI coordinator.

  • Provide technical validation of the manufacturing documentation provided to ensure that it complies with the standard requested by the department.

  • Study time, motion, methods, or speed involved with maintenance, production, or other operational activities established to standard production rates or improvement efficiencies .

  • Read logs, product processing sheets, or specifications to verify records adhere to quality assurance metrics.

  • Verify equipment is operating according to quality assurance standards by observing worker performance.

  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the appropriate solution in resolving problems.

  • Document detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to convey how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, assembled, constructed, modified, maintained, or used.

  • Maintain ESD protected areas and all required charts.

  • Develop, design, or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products including artistic contributions.

  • Provide time and cost estimates on repairs.

  • Other job duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    The NPI Technician will be an experienced candidate who can successfully lead as a very hands-on NPI Technician to scale for additional growth and maximize potential.

    This candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

  • Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.

  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem.

  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

  • Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate performance.

  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing.

  • Associate’s degree in electrical or electronics required. BA or advanced degree strongly preferred.

    The NPI Technician will prioritize and broadly execute the following:

  • Ability to take initiative by identifying problems, conceptualizing resolutions, and implementing change along with having attention to detail skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects to ensure all deadlines are met is essential.

  • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

  • Ability to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, setup functions, enter data, or process information.

  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It doesn't involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem.

  • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately with details and fluctuating work volumes.

    LOCATION:

    Plano is a city in the state of Texas, just north of downtown Dallas. It is a hub for many corporate headquarters and has been rated by Forbes as the safest city in 2011. Plano has many visitors, 80% of which are business travelers. The Preston Road area is home to major corporate headquarters of Fortune 1000 companies which have brought thousands of jobs to the area.

    Plano has two major space reserves: Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (200 acres) and Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve (800 acres). Bob Woodruff Park and Oak Point Park are connected by biking trails providing an abundance of outdoor recreation for families in Plano. These parks also include activities such as zip lining and Tarzan swings. They have five recreation centers that feature pools, dog parks, and amphitheaters for entertainment. This represents 84 parks. They feature an annual balloon festival every September that draws thousands.

    Collin College has two campuses in Plano. Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Dallas Baptist University also have campuses in Plano. There are 70 public schools and 16 private schools. Plano has more graduates than other comparable communities in Texas, graduating 93% of their classes, and score 18 percentage points higher than the same population in Dallas. Many graduate as National Merit Scholars.

    Plano is served by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). They provide commuter services via bus and light rail systems. The system is used by 1% of the population.

    As far as arts, culture, and entertainment, Plano is home to over 700 restaurants. There is a thriving downtown scene that is rated in the top ten within the country. This includes new office spaces as well as major retail establishments. Plano is a major, busy, bustling city and one of the best places in the United States to live.
