Cummins Inc. Team Leader - Level IV in Plainfield, Indiana

DESCRIPTION

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Coordination and Efficiency : As a team leader, you’ll coordinate the activities of your team to meet production specifications, schedules, and quality standards. Your ability to streamline processes and optimize resource utilization will directly impact productivity.

  • Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) :

  • Safety Advocacy : Be vigilant about safety hazards, promptly reporting any major injury risks. Encourage an interdependent safety culture by looking out for colleagues.

  • Compliance : Follow HSE standards, policies, and procedures. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect yourself and others.

  • Training : Engage in HSE training to stay informed and promote a safe work environment.

  • Quality Assurance :

  • Adherence to Standards : Follow standard work, process documentation, and quality procedures (e.g., Statistical Process Control, poka-yoke).

  • Quality Inspections : Perform inspections, raise quality concerns, and identify non-conforming material. Minimizing defects directly impacts costs and customer satisfaction.

  • Delivery Management :

  • Performance Monitoring : Monitor team performance and output. Assign tasks and inputs to meet production schedules, volume, and quality targets.

  • First Responder : Address equipment faults, shortages, and quality issues promptly. Coordinate activities across shifts, departments, and with suppliers.

  • Training and Coordination : Ensure team members follow process documentation, receive necessary training, and meet delivery schedules.

  • Continuous Improvement :

  • Team Development : Assist management in organizing headcount and overtime needs. Foster a team focused on continuous improvement.

  • Mentoring : Coach and mentor less experienced team members to enhance their skills and contribute to overall team success.

  • Effective Communication :

  • Team Collaboration : Communicate effectively with your assigned team and support functions. Collaborate to improve quality, safety, and material flow.

  • Adaptability : Stay informed about upcoming changes in technology or business processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Education/Experience

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

  • Lead daily start up meeting and allocate workforce according to schedule and situation.

  • Report hourly production and downtime. Work with corrective actions for downtime.

  • Able to read and write English.

  • Prefer previous team lead experience.

  • Prefer 2 or more remanufacture experience.
