Berkshire Bank HR Payroll Administrator in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

Position : HR Payroll Administrator

Pay Range: $20.50 - $35.99

Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.

Location: 99 North St, Pittsfield, MA

Purpose/Objective :

Provides a wide range of highly confidential operational, technical, and analytical support to the Human Resources function. Ability to work in a busy environment and juggle multiple priorities while often handling sensitive, confidential information.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Assist with the payroll processing for Berkshire Bank and Firestone Financial on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Manages the timekeeping system to ensure accuracy and timecard compliance. Works with managers on timely and accurate processing of payrolls via ADP Payroll and eTIME timekeeping systems.

  • Ensures payroll changes are handled timely and accurately. Computes and processes manual, nonstandard, and/or correction transactions.

  • Provides technical support for ADP Workforce Now employee portal for all employees and managers. Serves as a resource in fielding routine employee questions regarding compensation and interpretation of employment policies.

  • Maintains supporting documentation for audit trails, i.e., manages time & attendance system; trains new managers as hired. Reviews attendance activity periodically and reports on excessive punch edits and meal break violations for further action.

  • Provides assistance and serves as backup in absence of AVP, Payroll Manager. Provides support to the Human Resources operations team as needed.

  • Provides assistance and serves as a backup for FMLA / Leave of absence administration.

  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations related to payroll processing. Keeps abreast of laws, regulations, and taxation pertinent to all aspects of payroll. Prepare periodic government reports related to compensation, employment verifications, and unemployment to ensure accurate and timely information.

  • Manages childcare reimbursement program and employee recognition (AwardCo).

  • Responsible for managing variety of office tasks, including but not limited to: receiving and sorting mail, mailing owed wages and termination checks as necessary, depositing check payments upon receipt. Responsible for in-office coverage on a consistent schedule.

  • Maintains additional filing of employee documents in personnel files; ensures compliance with record retention guidelines.

  • Provides confidential support to various areas of Human Resources.

  • Provides support for internal and external audit preparation.

  • Prepares HR invoices, sends to Accounts Payable for processing, and maintains applicable electronic HR invoice folders.

  • Responsible for drafting and publishing The Connector on a monthly basis.

  • Responsible for monthly Centralized Compliance reporting for HR department.

  • Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one’s duties.

Education:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience as an administrative assistant or support function in a progressively demanding role

  • Payroll processing experience required

  • Well-rounded general Human Resources experience

  • Experience using ADP Payroll and/or ADP Workforce Now a plus
