Job Summary
Picks up and deliveries of mail, packages, goods on Oakland campus and Branch Campuses and other off campus areas owned/or operated by the University of Pittsburgh. Picks up bio hazardous waste on a weekly basis and/or when needed. Requires driving on and off campus. Must be familiar with the greater Pittsburgh area and surroundings. Ability to prioritize work. Requires actual handling and transporting of hazardous materials. Professional personnel are required to be present and they are to do the actual handling of materials. Requires extensive walking, sitting, driving up to six hours a day, and lifting at least 70 lbs. Courtesy and professionalism at all times is a must. Special projects as assigned. Days and hours of operation: Monday thru Friday -- hours are associated with routes and are bid upon annually. Must be able to work overtime as deemed necessary. The selected candidate is required to pass a mandatory DOT drug and alcohol screening and to have a satisfactory report from the DMV.
Essential Functions
The Office of Business, Hospitality and Auxiliary Services seeks a Truck Driver. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with pick-ups and deliveries of mail, packages, and goods on all campuses and other off-campus locations
- Picks up biohazardous waste - requires actual handling and transporting of hazardous materials.
- Requires driving on and off campus. Must be familiar with the greater Pittsburgh area and surroundings.
- Ability to prioritize work. Courtesy and professionalism always is a must.
- Special projects as assigned Physical Effort
- Requires extensive walking, sitting, and driving up to eight hours a day, and lifting at least 70 lbs.
- Days and hours of operation: Monday to Friday -- hours are associated with routes and are bid upon annually.
- Must be able to work overtime as deemed necessary.
