UPMC Sr. Project Manager in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

We are seeking a talented and driven Senior Project Manager to spearhead process improvement projects that enhance the efficiency and quality of our healthcare operations. This position involves leading cross-functional teams to develop and implement project plans across key clinical and operational areas, including Surgical Services, SPD, Imaging, Pharmacy, and Operating Room supply cost reduction. You’ll work closely with various departments, using data analytics to drive informed decisions and deliver tangible results. Responsibilities:

  • Apply effective tracking methods to monitor progress towards goals and identify the need for redesign of practice improvements.

  • Identify trends and process improvement opportunities across departments within operations.

  • Develop and implement key metrics to measure and report on progress of initiatives.

  • Develops and monitors dashboard indicators to meet organizational goals and develops action plans to address specific concerns and improve quality.

  • Monitors, communicates regulatory changes and develops strategies to address regulatory changes to standards and outcome measures.

  • Develop cross-functional, change management and implementation strategies; ensure that all of the participating parties have committed to effective implementation of the processes and procedures.

  • Assist team members in resolving project problems, escalate issues when necessary, and facilitate decision-making.

  • Develop methods to improve utilization of electronic systems to extrapolate quality data to enable data analysis and reporting.

  • Establish an organized and methodical process for policy review, revision, and cataloging on the Sharepoint.

  • Assist in establishing policies, procedures, and tools to support compliance activities related to regulatory changes.

  • Assist in planning, developing and conducting educational and training sessions.

  • Audit documentation compliance to optimize CMI and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and communicate such changes effectively across the organization as necessary.

  • Coordinate with management on analysis of existing and proposed regulations, rules and standards as they relate to quality, reimbursement, billing, program requirements, licensure, etc.

  • Oversee the collaboration of various departmental end-users in the design/decision making processes needed to analyze current operation procedures, identify problems and learn specific input and output requirements of data.

  • Oversee the development and communication of relevant policies and procedures to ensure practices are compliant with regulations.

  • Manage human interactions and organizational issues between multiple departments working on multiple problems simultaneously.

  • Identify management information needs and facilitate access to education necessary to meet those needs.

  • Collaborate and communicate with all levels of the organization to facilitate the accomplishment of the established goals.

  • Coordinate the planning, design, development, and implementation of the components of the projects being completed.

  • Collaborate and communicate with the clinical team, physician leaders, and other relevant participants to facilitate the successful completion of the projects being implemented.

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree and professional certification preferred.

  • Five (5) years of related hospital experience.

  • Advanced project management skills necessary to demonstrate the ability to plan, implement and manage complex projects.

  • Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrates strong and effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to understand, evaluate and communicate regulatory requirements as they relate to operations.

  • Knowledge of various aspects of how documentation impacts reimbursement.

  • Excellent computer skills required.

  • Excellent Project Management skills along with effective planning and organizational skills.
