Skilled Maintenance performs all task assignments for either preventative and requested maintenance or repairs as directed, to all Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh MEP systems and associated equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- - Minimum, a high school education, NIULPE PE-2, CFC certification, extensive HVAC and refrigeration experience, steam distribution experience.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver's license, NIULPE PE-2 License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

- - Working knowledge of MS Windows, Word and Excel - Ability to effectively communicate - Understanding of historic and state of the art mechanical, electrical, life safety and building management control systems.

This position requires working various schedules and times including daylight, evenings, nights and weekends.

*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: *Must be able to work from ladder and scaffold, climb, maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, reach with hands and arms.  The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50-pounds or more.  This position requires working various schedules and times including daylight, evenings, nights, and weekends.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Leadership

  • Provides on-the-job training in areas of basic electrical theory, electrical troubleshooting, and basic instrumentation and controls, instructing them in methods that will secure optimum utilization of time and supplies and will maintain standards for customer service and resource utilization.

                Administration

  • Cooperate with other members of the department to meet the department goals

  • Carry out the recommendations and directives of the Maintenance Superintendent
  • Maintain records of on the job training efforts

                Human Resource Management

  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with staff, public, and private groups, which utilize the Institute facilities

                Budget Responsibilities

  • None

                Quality Assurance

  • Insure that identified industry best practices and procedures for all services directed are implemented

  • When requested, review construction plans to insure FP&O requirements are met

                Equipment/supplies Management

  • Insure compliance with departmental purchasing policies and procedures to ensure that quality and cost goals are maintained and ensure that procurement occurs within budgetary constraints

  • Make product and equipment recommendations that ensure that quality and cost effective products are used
  • Assure that all equipment is properly maintained and functioning

                Training and Safety

  • Keep abreast of new technology, applicable laws and standards in areas of responsibility

  • Seek ongoing training to enhance or learn new relevant skills
  • Participate in the definition and planning of training programs, both formal and OJT

                General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observe and report, through the work order system, any and all defects, deterioration and wear and tear on the facilities

  • Inspe t all facilities on a routine basis and assures that deficiencies are corrected
  • Observe safety and security procedures
  • Exhibit courtesy and sensitivity in interactions with the various internal and external customers
  • Project the image and attitude of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh
