Senior Prospect Research Associate
The Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) at the University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, and stakeholders, supporting the University's mission in education, research, and healthcare. In this role, you will serve as the integral part within PAE's Clinical Prospect Development department, reporting to the Senior Director, Prospect Development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct detailed, in-depth research on individual, corporate, and/or foundation prospects for major gifts ($100K and above) and special gifts (below $100K).
- Maintain direct communication with fundraisers and executive administrators to stay aware of fundraising activities and needs.
- Provide accurate information to respond to fundraising needs by creating concise, accurate research profiles.
- Proactively identify new prospects for University of Pittsburgh clinical fundraising programs and UPMC.
- Utilize superior analytical abilities and sophisticated research skills to produce cogent and insightful reports.
- Apply expertise in relevant technologies and techniques for research.
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals.

Job Summary
Conducts moderately complex research, assesses potential donors, and prepares detailed reports on prospects. Partners with gift officers in support of their fundraising. Maintains data integrity, applies formal research methods to research problems, analyzes quantitative and qualitative data, and adheres to all guidelines and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Research donor prospects and gathers information, identifying relevant data, information, materials, and resources needed to complete a project. Conducts moderately complex research to identify donors.
- Prepare detailed reports on individuals, corporations, and foundations identified as prospects and assesses gift capacity of potential donors.
- Partner with gift officers and leadership to support their fundraising efforts.
- Maintain data integrity, tracks relevant data, and add pertinent information to systems.
- Recognize when issues, activities, and decisions need to be elevated to management, and communicate information effectively to others.
Physical Effort
Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
