University of Pittsburgh Research Assistant Professor Appointment Stream in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering engineering.pitt.edu/bioengineering invites applications from accomplished individuals with a PhD or equivalent degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biomedical sciences, or closely related disciplines for an appointment stream Research Assistant Professor faculty position. Applicants should have more than five years of postdoctoral experience carrying out independent as well as collaborative research in the field of developmental and cell mechanobiology and in bioengineering education. This is a hybrid position that involves both working in a lab setting and well a leader in our growing undergraduate program. Research--the position involves the development and applications of cell biological manipulations and their integration in biomechanical studies of morphogenesis. Additionally, the position requires substantial experience in undergraduate education and STEM education pedagogy. The positions responsibilities include writing grant applications and contributing to scientific advances in the field. The Research Assistant Professor will also be responsible for publishing the scientific work conducted in peer-reviewed journals and presenting findings at scientific meetings. Additionally, the incumbent will assist in teaching and mentoring undergraduate or graduate students and overseeing laboratory staff performing experiments. Education-this position carries out the Undergraduate Directors responsibilities. Those include but are not limited to managing ABET requirements, advising and registration matters, course scheduling, and coordination among track coordinators. In addition, will manage the undergraduate teaching assistants, oversee undergraduate events, annual retreats, and conferences, and manage handbook updates.
