UPMC Professional Staff Nurse - Multiple Units in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The minimum rate of pay for a non-BSN Professional Staff Nurse is $29.77/hour.

The unit(s) you are most interested in will be discussed at the time of interview scheduling. All positions will support our Main Campus location in the Lawrenceville neighborhood in the city of Pittsburgh.

These positions will work rotating shifts.

You will manage and provide patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates accountability for professional development that improves the quality of professional practice and the quality of patient care.

  • Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles (and/or teaching children if applicable) and applies in teaching of patients, families, students and new staff.

  • Actively participates in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts.

  • Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally by demonstrating accountability for actions, enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to patients and colleagues.

  • BSN is strongly preferred. If no BSN, enrolled in a BSN program is strongly preferred

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families is required

  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment is required

  • Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities as related to various aspects of patient care is required.

  • Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process is required

  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity as well as physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients is required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance

  • Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

  • Registered Nurse License or Temporary Practice Permit
