Job Summary

Well organized and maintain good communication skills with exceptional work ethic. Develops a rapport with the customer and discuss the requirements of the job. Works alongside all applicable personnel in a professional manner. Plumbers are required to be knowledgeable in all facets of plumbing systems including: sanitary waste and vents, lab waste, and vents, water distribution, natural gas, medical gasses, de-ionized water, and backflow prevention. Must be able to work unsupervised plus perform the job required in a timely and craftsman like fashion. Maintains the plumbing systems in all buildings at the University under senior management's jurisdiction. There are times when renovation work is required along with new installations. Emergency situations do arise and the plumber must respond immediately. Must be able to work in adverse conditions. These conditions can include confined spaces, extreme heights, damp and humid areas, as well as hot or cold conditions.

Essential Functions

Excellent work ethic and verbal communication skills. Maintains plumbing systems under senior management's jurisdiction. Journeyman must understand plumbing systems and plumbing codes. He must also have a basic understanding of building construction, materials, and electricity.

Physical Effort

Carrying: continually. Maximum carry weight 100 lbs.

Walking: continually (90-100%).

Standing: continually (90-100%).

Walking or sitting intermittently.

Bending: continually (90-100%).

Climbing: frequently (75-90%).

Lifting: frequently (75-90%). Very heavy -- maximum lift of 100 lbs. 90% of lifting is from floor to waist.

Stooping/Squatting: frequently (60-75%).

Twisting/Turning: frequently (60-75%).

Reaching: frequently (60-75%).

Pushing/Pulling: frequently (60-75%).

Kneeling/Crawling: frequently (60-75%).

Driving: rarely.
