Our group members are based in the USA and Europe, and we are part of Westinghouse's Fuel Engineering organization.

As a member of our team your main responsibility will be to plan, structure and successfully realize advanced examinations of materials for fuel assemblies for existing and future nuclear reactors. Our team's focus areas encompass materials for all parts of the fuel assemblies, from the ceramic uranium pellets to metallic components such as Zr-based fuel cladding, and surface coatings for Accident Tolerant Fuel (ATF).

Your Day-to-Day You will be one of our key resources in assuring that we acquire the fuel performance data needed for models and methods development, as well as licensing of next generation materials solutions, and your day-to-day activities will include: Plan, structure, track and secure the progress in advanced examinations of materials for fuel assemblies for existing and future nuclear reactors. Work collaboratively with Westinghouse's global team of specialists to assure that the Post-Irradiation Examination (PIE) campaigns provide the fuel performance data required for our models and methods development, as well as licensing of next generation materials solutions. Work collaboratively with our partners at the main laboratories to successfully execute and finalize advanced PIE campaigns. Perform analysis of test data and generate technical reports documenting the analysis. Identify and define technical issues and challenges and drive successful resolution.

This role is initially remote and can, if desired, develop into a role at one of our main sites, e.g., the Churchill facility near Pittsburgh, PA, or the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) near Columbia, SC.

Who you are: You have an advanced degree in materials and a strong scientific and engineering interest in the field. You have professional experience, an eagerness to further develop your skills and a drive to learn. As a successful candidate you will bring the following to the team: BSc or MSc in Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field with 2+ years of professional experience or equivalent combination of degree and experience. Experience from planning and execution of advanced PIE programs. Strong communication and cooperation skills. Enjoy working in challenging projects, both independently and in teams. Professional working proficiency in English, both speaking and writing.
