Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship Full-Time Lunch Aide in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Reports to: Director of Food Service

Salary Range A: $37,152.73 - 40,496.47

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Purpose

Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, snack and other food to children in a courteous, customer-service oriented manner. Organize and set up equipment and workstations. Perform duties following health, food service, government and other regulations. Demonstrate proper equipment operation skills and monitor the proper adherence to all Food Safety Protocols as set forth by the PHCSE's HACCP-based Food Safety program.

Job Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma with post-secondary coursework in food service, management, and nutrition is required

  • ServSafe Food Manager and Food Handler Certifications

Job Responsibilities:

  • *Perform dishwashing duties.  Clean all cooking, serving and eating utensils and tools to include trays, pans, pots, etc..  *

  • *Setup and breakdown of serving areas. *

  • Rinse dishes, wash tables.

  • *Practice personal hygiene and proper sanitation procedures.  *

  • *Turn on, test and monitor equipment at the beginning of the day. *

  • Run safety check at the end of each shift to ensure burners and oven are off and the kitchen is clean and free of hazards.

  • *Food preparation according to written and oral instructions.  *

  • Serve breakfast, lunch, snacks and other meals as necessary.

  • *Handle any necessary cashiering responsibilities associated with selling lunches to PHCSE staff and serving of food items. *

  • *Replenish food and maintain clean serving areas.  *

  • *Monitor food and equipment temperatures at all times. *

  • *Exhibit courtesy and understanding to staff, students and customers.  *

  • Ensure the point of sale procedures are followed.

  • *Receive, stock and rotate incoming and outgoing inventory.  *

  • *Participate in formal and informal training.  *

  • *Demonstrate and apply knowledge of sanitation practices.  *

  • *Exhibit the professional behavior of a reliab e employee.  *

  • *Perform preparation duties for the next day.  *

  • *Maintain a neat, clean and safe work environment.  *

  • *Participate in marketing promotions and special events for students, adults and community.  *

  • Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance and temperature for the purpose of presenting items that will be accepted by students

  • Have knowledge of common safety hazards and necessary safety precautions in order to establish a safe work environment

Meetings and Professional Development

  • Maintain ServSafe Certification

  • Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community

  • Engage in professional development in the areas of child nutrition, food safety, and other job-related areas to ensure that the food service program is in compliance with the regulations of the Department of Public Health

  • Attend one board meeting and one PTA meeting per year

  • *All other duties as assigned *

Working Conditions:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing, exerting up to 50 lbs. of force,  Significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 25% walking, and 70% standing.
