University of Pittsburgh Faculty.Scholar.Visiting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

 

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology is seeking a research fellow to study GI malignancies to start in 2024. Responsibilities will include laboratory work involving animals, including assisting with surgical pancreas ductal procedures, administering pain meds, ordering and tracking animal inventory, as well as other tasks associated with animal care. Incumbent will also be involved in compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data, writing of manuscripts for publication, and oral presentations. Additionally, updating and maintaining databases, formulating research ideas around novel subjects in pancreatic cancer research, and working with members of the faculty to proceed with study design, statistical analysis, manuscript writing, and submission and presentation of work at conferences.

 

Incumbent must possess an MD degree, strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills, and be able to commit to one year for this project. Successful candidates will have past clinical outcomes research experience as evidenced by publications.

 

Expected to formulate several research questions around novelty subjects in pancreatic cancer research (or any other field of interest), present them during the weekly research meeting, and work with different members of the faculty to proceed with the study design, statistical analysis, and manuscript writing. Expected to duly submit and present my work during several key regional conferences. Collect biospecimens from OR, process, and triage tissue collection for research projects. Collect samples, questionnaires, and data from participants for research studies. Present data at weekly Pancreatic Cancer Research Meeting. Ability to do all the above at UPMC Presbyterian, Shadyside, and Montefiore Hospitals.
