University of Pittsburgh Faculty Professor Assistant - Full-Time in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

If you are interested in working in one of the leading divisions of academic general internal medicine and a nationally renowned medical education program, look no further--the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC is hiring! Outstanding medical students and internal medicine residents, as well as a group of faculty who are passionate about teaching, curriculum development, and medical education scholarship, create a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive environment that provides ample opportunity for professional development.

We are seeking general internists to serve as Assistant Professor Clinician-Educators, responsible for both patient care and teaching of medical students and internal medicine residents in the outpatient and inpatient settings. Clinical work is located at urban academic referral hospitals for general inpatient work (UPMC Presbyterian and Shadyside) and at four primary care academic clinics, including hospital and community-based. Throughout our practices, we care for a diverse population of patients. Known as a division equally strong in clinical research and medical education, our clinician educators enjoy ongoing faculty development in medical education, strong mentorship, and internal funding to pursue education projects. The majority of our Clinician-Educators receive compensation for the non-clinical effort to develop and teach curricula and run educational programs at the UME, GME, and/or CME levels. We are actively leading efforts aimed at improving diversity and equity in academic medicine and medical education within the Division of General Internal Medicine and at the institutional level. Helping our entire faculty and all our trainees identify and achieve their professional goals is a top priority. The strongest consideration will be given to MD or DO candidates who have fellowship or other advanced training in medical education, an MPH or MS in medical education (or similar), chief residency, and/or significant teaching experience. General internists who would like to focus their efforts on practicing primary care, women's health, or addiction medicine in an academic setting will also be given strong consideration. Clinical duties may involve limited evening or weekend hours in addition to weekdays, along with telemedicine services. Outpatient calls on evenings and weekends (phone coverage) are typically only once per month. Applicants must be board-eligible or certified in Internal Medicine. Salary and amount of non-clinical time allocated in the first year will be commensurate with training and experience. Academic appointment at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is available and dependent upon qualifications. Interested applicants should submit a Curriculum Vitae (CV) to requisition # 23009194 @join.pitt.edu.
