Amentum Electrician Lead in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Amentum is seeking an Industrial Electrician Lead to join our first shift team in Pittsburgh, PA.
Typical work schedule is 6:00 AM -2:30 PM, hours may vary based on business demand.
Additional hours may be required to support our 24/7 operation.
The Industrial Electrician is part of a team that troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains industrial and commercial facility equipment.
Responsibilities:
Perform ALL power related work, maintenance, repairs and projects as required. Perform work on larger maintenance efforts with facilities engineers to include substations, breakers, load break interrupters, transformers, and various power distribution panels and equipment.
Regular communications and reporting with managers both within our organization and the clients.
Performing safety audits and observations as required by Amentum safety program.
Ensure site is covered by approving employee time, vacation and other balancing of workload.
Evaluate technicians under your leadership and provide feedback for employee annual reviews.
Train lower-level technicians and ensure cross training into other functional areas of the facility.
Ability to obtain STS certification.
Verify, log, and adjust settings in electrical protection devices and trip units.
Troubleshoot and repair faulted controls, breakers, and related equipment.
Read schematics and one liners, to include European style, in the effort to determine solutions for problems that arise.
Perform safety and hazard assessments prior to performing any work.
Operate Circuit breakers, interrupters and disconnects as part of normal maintenance and workload.
Inspection and documentation of findings using a CMMS.
Communication to client and management of issues found and work completion status.
Responds to emergency calls and takes necessary corrective actions.
Directs the work of lower-skilled technicians assisting in projects, assuring that proper safety practices are followed.
Work in a team environment on pressing facility related maintenance issues to include performing tasks such as mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, etc., as the needs arise.
Troubleshoots and repairs of PLCs, VFDs and all other aspects of BAS systems.
Coordinates work with outside contractors.
Competent understanding of the NFPA 70E.
Perform work following standard NFPA 70E and IEEE as required.
Performs preventive maintenance on industrial electrical control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis (two-minute rule) and lockout/tagout procedures and utilizes PPE as required.
Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, diagnostic hardware, and reliability tools to perform work.
Create reliability investigation reports and present to the client and internal Amentum management.
Demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as required by maintenance schedules.
Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
10 years of experience performing maintenance on industrial manufacturing production equipment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work in an aerial lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
Electrician Certificate from an apprenticeship program or equivalent Associates Technical degree
Experience working safely with voltages up to 15kv
Ability to read and troubleshoot from electrical oneliners and schematics to include European standards.
Valid driver’s License
Familiarity in using electrical test equipment – multimeters, megger, verifiers, loggers, IR and ultrasound equipment, etc.
Familiarity working with distribution panels and switchboards.
Following company lockout tagout procedures

This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to regularly lift to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Special Requirements:
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed to include arc flash suits etc.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Other Attributes:
- Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
