Xylem EHS Clearing House Manager in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The Role: Xylem seeks to hire an EHS Clearing House Manager to be based in Bridgeport, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, PA, Houston, TX, or Charlotte, NC . This position will manage the Water Solution Services (WSS) Contractor Safety program internally and external contractor safety validations, prequalification and risk assessments from suppliers, clients, and vendors, i.e. Avetta, ISNetworld., etc.

Your role will include the assessment, monitoring, and reporting of vendor compliance status and performance in addition to collaborating with various internal teams and suppliers to maintain compliance, enhance suppliers and vendor relationships, and streamline processes. You will also assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of environmental, safety and health policies and procedures and best practices, particularly related to product manufacturing, transportation and services for rental and sales of industrial pumps and related equipment at branch offices located across the United States and Canada .

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities :

  • Drive and expect zero injuries as an acceptable safety culture as a KPI.

  • Drive and expect zero environmental NOVs as a KPI

  • Assist Branch Managers and EHS Managers with driving EHS accountability with suppliers and contractors

  • Assist the EHS&S Manager with exceeding sustainability goals as a KPI.

Vendor Compliance Management:

  • Oversee the registration and onboarding of vendors in the Contractor Safety system, i.e. Avetta, ISNetWorld , etc.

  • Ensure that all vendors comply with our company’s policies and legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct regular audits, pre and post-construction assessments of vendor compliance.

  • Manage vendor risk assessments and due diligence processes.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain an accurate database for records of supplier/vendor compliance

  • Generate regular reports on supplier/vendor compliance status and any issues identified.

  • Provide actionable insights to improve vendor performance and compliance.

Clearing House Management :

  • Manage the contractor pre-qualification process through the safety clearing house system.

  • Ensure all required safety documentation, certifications, training, and insurance are up-to-date and maintained in the contractor database.

  • Review contractor safety performance and historical safety data to assess risk and approve/reject contractor eligibility.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary contact for supplier/vendor regarding compliance queries and issues.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (such as procurement, legal, and operations) to ensure alignment of compliance standards.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers/vendors enhancing compliance and performance.

Training and Development:

  • Develop and deliver training programs for suppliers/vendors on compliance standards and procedures.

  • Keep updated with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in vendor compliance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve the suppliers/vendors' compliance processes.

  • Implement new tools and technologies for efficient management of suppliers/vendors compliance.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand compliance requirements and integrate them into daily practices.

  • Facilitate communication between our company and suppliers/vendors to ensure a clear understanding of compliance standards and requirements.

  • Monitor and report on supplier performance metrics, ensuring adherence to contractual agreements and compliance standards.

  • Train and support team members on the effective use of the Contractor Safety system.

  • Manage contractor safety program.

  • Ability to travel 10 to 25% across regions as some travel will require 1 to 3 days with overnight stays.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Participate in the Xylem Corporate EHS&S Audit Program to support ongoing compliance and management system audits at various operations and locations throughout Xylem. Serve as an audit team member and/or audit team leader.

  • Develop and analyze safety data and programs under the direction of the Director of EHS&S.

  • Prepare detailed summaries that include results of risk assessments, test results, observations, identified safety concerns, and recommendations or solutions to resolve those concerns.

  • Recommend ways to assist the company in creating safer and cleaner processes. Performance of varied duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.

  • 7 years experience working as a safety professional in a manufacturing and or construction environment.

  • 7 years experience managing a Contractor Safety program and system.

  • Extremely competent with the use of computers and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory standards.

  • Comfortable providing safety training, and presentations to contractors/suppliers and or large audiences.

  • Expected travel: up to 25% (airplane or car) per month

Salary range:

$91,500.00 - $164,500.00
