Clinical Research Coordinator

 

The Neuroscience for Health Equity (NHE) Lab led by Dr. Gabriella Alvarez in the Biological-Health Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh has an opening for a Clinical Research Coordinator. The NHE Lab integrates social psychology and affective neuroscience to address vital questions concerning how social inequities, particularly those related to race and socioeconomic status, may impact neurobiology and health. Our current research focus explores the interplay between neural network functions and the immune system, aiming to unravel the profound ways social disparities affect overall health and wellbeing. Individuals interested in utilizing psychoneuroimmunology or MRI methods are encouraged to apply. The NHE Lab Manager will work closely with Dr. Alvarez to provide both research and administrative support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the lab. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a team that seeks to make significant contributions to health equity through neuroscience.

B.A./B.S. in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, computer science, public health, or related areas; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; preferred candidates will have 2-3 years research lab experience; understanding and experience of psychology and/or neuroscience fields in order to contribute to conceptual discussions and research papers, possibly leading to authorship in resulting publications; strong proficiency using software such as Microsoft Office. Experience with computer coding (especially for stimulus presentation in Eprime or PsychoPy and/or data analysis in R or SPSS statistical software) is desirable, but not required.

Job Summary

Assists with and adheres to Institutional Review Board (IRB) renewal, modification, and approved protocols. Recruits research subjects and conducts interviews and research assessments.

Essential Functions

Must be proficient in working with data in Excel, should be detail-oriented and have strong organization skills, proficient with Mac OS operating systems, and have the ability to troubleshoot problems associated with operating systems.

Physical Effort

The position is primarily sedentary, although walking to lab spaces in other buildings in Oakland will be required for conducting assessments with participants.
