Pressley Ridge Behavioral Health Aide in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania


A. To assist the teaching team in the effective implementation of individual educational/behavioral plans, the BHA will:

  • assist students educationally and behaviorally in working through their daily schedule as prepared by the classroom team;

  • integrate experiential education into students’ weekly programming;

  • maintain visual and auditory contact with the students at all times during the school day unless otherwise arranged with staff;

  • demonstrate a proficient level of cultural sensitivity

  • maintain daily communication with team members and families regarding student programming and progress.

  • actively implement components of all Re-ED values

  • adapting program as designed by the special education teacher/ behavioral health specialist

    B. To assist the teaching team in the effective implementation of individual behavioral/social education plans, the BHA will:

  • implement and monitor behavior/academic interventions designed by the team;

  • assist students in participating in daily routine;

  • assist students in the reintegration process back to School District classrooms

  • maintain daily communication with team members regarding student programming and progress

    C. To assure appropriate documentation of classroom activities, the BHA will:

  • maintain written records as required;

  • utilize technology through electronic documentation, electronic communication, and use of the internet to supplement programming;

  • follow Pressley Ridge/School District policy regarding the documentation of critical incidents.

    D. To assure the continuous safety of all students, the BHA will:

  • directly supervise assigned students via visual and auditory contact at all times during school day unless otherwise arranged with staff or students;

  • follow Pressley Ridge/School District procedures for all physical contact with students during physical restraints, student searches and so on;

  • follow Pressley Ridge/School District procedures for handling student illness and injury, including arranging necessary medical care--(with the approval of the on-site supervisor)—informing appropriate persons of the situation, and documenting the injury/illness and actions taken;

  • according to a designated schedule, supervise students’ arrival and departure to school via buses;

  • assist other staff, as needed, in physical interventions to protect students and staff from injury

  • be familiar with the School District’s emergency management plan ;

  • when transporting students, maintain safe driving procedures.

    E. To assure the continuing development of professional skills, the BHA will:

  • participate in all regularly scheduled in-service programs at the school;

  • with the approval of the Senior Director of Education, periodically attend local, state, or national conferences and workshops.

    Working Conditions

  • Physical Demands. This position requires a moderate to high level of physical activity. Employee must meet minimum requirements for Hearing, Speech and Vision.

  • Working Hours. As assigned




  • High School or better



  • 1 year: Experience working with children and/or families
