The opportunity

The Assistant Director of Clinical Services is an RN and a member of management who assists the Director of Clinical Services in ensuring appropriate delivery of patient services and compliance with state and federal hospice regulations. In addition, this position assists personnel to achieve and maintain competency in quality of care, customer service, leadership, census and cost containment. Assists the Director of Clinical Services with the daily operation of the clinical team. Helps to establish and maintain high standards for quality care and customer service. Assist with development, implementation and evaluation of goals and objectives for hospice services that meet or exceed the standards for quality established by the company. Assists with maintenance and compliance with all relevant rules and regulations. Manage related expenditures in a fiscally responsible manner in accordance with the company budget, travel as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with daily hospice operations including financial areas and cost controls, adhere to financial and accounting policies, and manage expenditures in a fiscally responsible manner.

  • Assist in managing employees as assigned by the Director of Clinical Services.

  • Participate in evening/weekend call as required, including administrative call.

  • Provide regular communication with the hospice staff regarding pertinent organizational and clinical issues.

  • Assist with facilitation of effective communication between hospice staff members and promote effective administration throughout the company.

  • Assist Director of Clinical Services with oversight of the assessment, evaluation, intervention and documentation of the patient/family/caregiver needs.

  • Help to ensure all Conditions of Participation and company standards of care are met.

  • Assist in evaluating patient and caregiver needs to ensure adequate staffing.

  • Assure that staff education needs are met and assessed.

  • Assist the Director of Clinical Services to maintain services consistent with budgetary guidelines including staffing, pharmacy, DME, supplies and mileage.

  • Participate in agency and community programs as needed to promote professional growth and understanding of hospice care.

  • Assist with general orientation and discipline specific orientation. Participates in orientation and in-servicing of staff as assigned by the Director of Clinical Services.

  • Visit contracted facilities to develop and maintain good working relationship with facility staff.

  • Assist to ensure program is ready for survey and maintain compliance with survey requirements.

  • Maintain a good working relationship between all disciplines of the hospice team and administrative staff in a positive and motivational manner.

  • Maintain clinical records, statistics, reports and records for reporting and evaluating purposes in compliance with local, state and federal laws.

  • Participate in staff meetings, department meetings, team meetings, briefings, in-services, committees and other related activities as needed.

  • Meet or exceed delivery of company service standards in a consistent manner.

  • Conduct all business activities in a professional and ethical manner.

  • Maintain all appropriate state nursing licensing requirements.
