The Compensation Analyst is familiar with some aspects of compensation and has a basic understanding and knowledge of compensation principles, practices, concepts, and theories. They are responsible to assist the Compensation Advisor and Manager of HRIS & Payroll with executing all activities associated with compensation management. Conduct salary surveys and analyze data from survey sources to make recommendations to ensure Cleco’s competitiveness both internally and externally. Assist in preparation of compensation increase and incentive programs. Utilize data results to make recommendations and/or identify trends based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), market information, or business strategy. Assist in preparing required reporting and filings. Work successfully with both internal and external partners including employees, HR team members, business leaders, compensation consultants, and others. Perform employee data management and analysis processes to ensure that data is secure and maintained consistent with company policies and privacy regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champions a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, diversity and inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence.

  • Collects, analyzes, and compiles data and statistics from the human resource information system (HRIS) and compensation sources to assists with the market benchmarking process and all activities related to analysis of market trends. Participate in market competitive pay positions to ensure pay structure meets overall company goals and objectives.

  • Assist the Compensation Advisor and Director of HR with collecting, analyzing, and reporting data for the Executive Compensation section of annual proxy.

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders for data retrieval, analysis, and reporting.

  • Compiles compensation-related reporting for internal and external data requests for audits.

  • Prepare reports of data results to be presented to management and/or senior leadership.

  • Utilizes analytical skills to assist in evaluating, developing, and optimizing compensation programs and opportunities.

  • Respond to and resolve ad-hoc compensation related reporting inquiries.

  • Assist with compensation related configurations in Cleco’s HCM system.

  • Participate on project team(s) within and/or related to compensation.

  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality of departmental records and employee documentation.

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills & Experience

  • BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field

  • 3+ years of related experience preferred

  • Committed to confidentiality and ability to handle and disseminate sensitive data.

  • Willingness to take action on quick prioritization and meeting commitments in a fast-paced environment with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy

  • Understands formal and informal intersections and interdependencies to be able to frame the problem, evaluate and research, anticipate downstream affects, and identify future implications across the end-to end system to help prioritize solutions

  • Works to identify and propose ways to improve solutions in a seamless, consistent way that results in clients understanding changes and more effectively driving company impact

  • Compliance-minded with proficient knowledge of compensation philosophy, human resources policies, labor laws, and regulations

  • Maintains high level of discretion with confidential material and embraces a higher standard whenever handling employee information

  • Possess analytical and problem-solving skills to parse data and information to develop rational solutions with focus on making sense of facts and figures. Use logical thinking practices to identify trends or challenges.

  • Experience with Workday or other HRIS/Compensation system a plus

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, with proficient Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Experience with a business intelligence platform (such as MS Power BI) a plus
