Indian Health Service Laborer in Pine Ridge, South Dakota

Summary This position is located in the Facility Management/Maintenance Department at the Pine Ridge Service Unit. The purpose of this position is to provide various laboring duties within the Pine Ridge Hospital Maintenance Department; provide regularly scheduled cleaning and lawn maintenance of government TDY units; and periodic cleaning and lawn maintenance of vacated and renovated government housing units. Responsibilities Paint walls (vinyl or smooth drywall) and other building items as needed with brush and/or roller, including outdoors. Cleaning and preparing residence including vacuuming, cleaning counters, cleaning bathrooms, wiping down area, sweeping and mopping, and dusting the apartments. Keep residential grounds and landscaping neat and clean. Follow written and oral instructions. Operate moving and lifting equipment suck as pallet jacks, dollies, loaded carts, and skids while protecting surroundings. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. I am able to perform the most difficult and complex Laborer tasks including: laying flooring, texturing drywall, framing walls, repairing HVAC systems, laying shingles, and operate equipment. B. I am able to perform the full range of Laborer tasks including: demolish interior finishes, maintain grounds, move heavy furniture, clean apartments, and perform regular residential maintenance tasks. C. I am able to perform the common Laborer tasks including: mowing grass, moving heaving furniture and supplies, cleaning apartments, and completing minor residential maintenance tasks. D. I have the ability to perform simple Laborer duties, and require constant and more than normal supervision, in performing the full range of Laborer techniques, procedures, and functions such as: mowing grass, changing lightbulbs, and cleaning. E. I do not possess the experience or training listed above but am willing to learn. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education There are no education requirements. Additional Information Per IHS policy (SGM 21-04) IHS selectees to positions located in Federally operated hospitals, health centers, and clinics must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entry on duty or have IHS approve a medical or religious exemption. If an exemption is approved then wearing a face mask and regular testing for COVID-19 will be required. Your Human Resources Specialist will provide a list of documents acceptable as vaccination proof and instructions on how to submit your vaccination documentation or how to request a medical or religious exemption, if needed. Additional selection(s) of candidates may be possible within 240 days from the date the certificate of eligibles was issued for this announcement. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
