Siemens Technical Manager for ETCS System Installation in Locomotives in Pilsen, Czech Republic

Becoming a Technical Manager in Engineering means coordinating a highly skilled team of specialists across various fields and countries, taking responsibility for implementing customer requirements, and designing new solutions. Siemens Mobility has already launched many locomotives, including the current top product – the Vectron locomotive, as well as many of its predecessors. The state of the art is continuously advancing, and the field of safety is no exception – it is one of the key topics in contemporary railways. Therefore, it is necessary to implement new safety systems (ETCS) in locomotives that are already in operation.

If you are eager to be part of the Engineering team, manage a team of experts, address key interfaces, and support the final result – the approval of locomotives with the new safety system by the relevant authorities, this position is right for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) on customer vehicles

  • Implementation of the defined locomotive architecture in accordance with requirements, deadlines, and costs

  • Solving technical interfaces relevant to the ETCS train part

  • Managing and coordinating the technical bid team

  • Responsible for preparing the technical part of the offer in compliance with deadlines, costs, and quality, and fulfilling the tasks of the Bid Manager during the offer phase

  • Cooperation with specialists responsible for main systems and subsystems within the coordination of work packages during the project phase

  • Reviewing technical and commercial tender documentation with respect to technical content and risks

  • Collaboration with the project team – project management, engineering specialists, manufacturing, as well as customers and approval authorities

Requirements:

  • University degree in electrical engineering, control technology, or informatics

  • Experience in engineering and/or project management, ideally in the field of rail vehicles, or with commissioning rail vehicles

  • Knowledge of control and safety systems for rail vehicles, ideally ETCS

  • Familiarity with European rail vehicle approval processes

  • Experience in managing technical teams and excellent organizational and communication skills

  • German for everyday work with technical documentation (passive level sufficient)

  • English and Czech for everyday communication

  • Flexibility to travel approximately 20%, mainly to Germany (Munich, Erlangen)
