onsibilities

  1. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage, supervise, and ensure the orderly conduct of day-to day business activities of the Post 8 Lounge. The primary focus will be to ensure Post 8 bar operations are running efficiently and at a profit. Your duties entail managing the operations of the bar including recommendations for hiring, training staff, employee scheduling, imposing minor disciplinary actions, customer service, inventory control, supplies, upkeep of equipment, and supervising the enforcement of all local and state laws governing the sale and consumption of alcohol. The Post Administrator is your immediate supervisor. The Post Administrator reports to the Commander and the Lounge Committee.
  2. All duties and responsibilities should be in line with the morals, values, and ethics of the American Legion. The purpose of this establishment is to provide for the programs and support of the Post 8 Department of South Dakota American Legion--a not-for-profit organization founded to support Veterans, Youth, a Strong National Defense, and perpetuate Americanism.
  3. The American Legion Post Administrator is the primary individual employee should address any needs, issues, or requests as appropriate. If that individual is unavailable in a reasonable time frame, the Employee is to address the Lounge Committee Chair, then Commander.
  4. The Employee agrees to be employed on the terms and conditions set out in this Agreement.
  5. The Employee will perform all duties as requested by the Employer that are reasonable and that are customarily performed by a person holding a similar position in the industry or business of the Employer.
  6. The Employee agrees to abide by the Employer's rules, regulations, policies, and practices, including those concerning work schedules, vacation, and other times off.

Managing the business aspects of the bar, such as keeping a current liquor license, negotiating supplier contracts, taking inventory, and reordering supplies, managing budgets, and setting goals. Ensure monthly inventories and reconciliations are completed.
