Facebook AR Graphics System Architect in Pierre, South Dakota

Summary:

Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) focuses on delivering Facebook's vision through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). The compute performance and power efficiency requirements of Virtual and Augmented Reality require custom compute pipelines and custom silicon. FRL is driving the state-of-the-art forward with breakthrough work in graphics, computer vision, machine learning, displays and sensing. Our custom chips and technologies will enable AR & VR devices where our real and virtual world will blend to deliver far more impressive experiences. We believe the only way to achieve our goals is to look at the entire stack, from transistors, through architecture, to firmware, and algorithms.The AR Graphics System Architect will lead the definition of end-to-end graphics Compute architecture that spans across the entire HW/SW stack. The ideal candidate for this role will have an excellent grasp on system architecture, rendering techniques, gaming engines, driver architecture, graphics SW APIs, GPU architecture, thermally constrained performance optimization on consumer devices, and should be comfortable operating in a cross-functional, highly dynamic environment.

Required Skills:

  1. Lead end-to-end, graphics compute architecture for a new generation AR product

  2. Optimize the architecture around product use-cases and system constraints

  3. Guide technical solution across the entire graphics stack, from application through UI framework, driver to custom rendering components

  4. Work with SW and HW teams across FRL to build ultra-low power graphics compute architecture from scratch

  5. think 10x lower power budget per pixel compared to mobile devices

  6. Work with product app teams to build a graphics pipeline that can bring up new immersive experiences

  7. Travel both domestically and internationally to work with cross-functional partner teams

  8. Works effectively as an individual and in a multidisciplinary international team

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors in Computer Sciences or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree

  2. 10+ years of experience as a system architect or graphics pipeline architect or gaming engine development

  3. Experience in guiding heterogeneous teams across IP, system, HW, SW, and product development

  4. Experience dealing with ambiguity in a fast changing consumer electronics field

  5. Proven communication skills and experience abstracting highly complex technical concepts
