Job Description Summary

Manages directly through subordinates, operational activities and processes for electronic payments within Bank End-to-End. As the Process Owner, responsible for creating and maintaining processes that achieve a high level of operational efficiency and quality while maintaining proper internal controls to meet the changing business needs including customer experience. Works on complex issues and projects. 3 major components to the role:

  1. Process owner for management and execution of the end-to-end value chain of electronic payments at Bank of the West including operational and regulatory compliance ensuring well-managed operation

  2. Accountable for firm-wide electronic payments governance, target operating model, reporting

  3. Benchmark industry trends, tools and practices and educate BOTW stakeholder on emerging markets

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead operations team to execute on operational functions in a well-managed manner balancing customer experience, quality, throughput, cost and risk

  • As Process Owner manage the end to end processes related to electronic payments (ach, wire, zelle, RTP) within operations as well as the enterprise value chain from initiation through settlement

  • Cultivate and develop a high performing team of employees through coaching, mentoring, talent and performance management

  • Establish the charter, standards and requirements for electronic payments (ACH, Wires, Zelle, RTP)across the firm to be in compliance with BNPP, regulatory and industry standards from initiation to settlement

  • Benchmark industry trends, tools and practices and educate BOTW stakeholder on emerging markets

  • Report and monitor enterprise electronica payments process performance across value chain to include: volume trends, SLA performance (E2E and at each step), customer POV, efficiency, effectiveness, risk exposure, cost

  • Identify E2E gaps and opportunities and work with value chain to address using a balance risk and client experience

  • Manage all risk exposures to an acceptable level of mitigated risk within clearly articulate risk appetite

  • Using data and analytics, drive a transformational strategy for the end to end processes from origination to funding and settlement

  • Applying and teaching others skills, mindset and tools to manage process via lean and six sigma methodologies

  • Champion associate and internal partner engagement by building trusting relationships centered around action orientation and fact based decision making

  • Collaboratively work with partners and peers across the end to end value chain to drive process and technology enhancements

  • Drive process execution to perform within quality assurance standards/measures across customer experience, operations, regulatory and legal requirements

  • Understand which decision making measures matter and then implement the data collection systems and processes to inform those decision making tools

  • Execute processes which are designed to effectively operate within defined and agreed upon process key performance indicators

  • Eliminate non-value added waste within process to drive efficiencies

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • 7 years’ experience as the process owner of electronic payments

  • 3 years’ experience developing six sigma process artifacts

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree [or equivalent] required; MBA or advanced degree preferred

Working Location Statement

This position has the option to work in one of our key hubs (San Francisco, San Ramon, CA, Tempe, AZ, Omaha, NE) or to work remotely as long as it is in within our 27 state working footprint which includes AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IA, IL, KS, MI, MN, MO, NE, NV, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, SD, TX, UT, WA, WI, WY, NY.
