The T55 Growth Engines Project Engineering team has an immediate opening for a Sr. Project Engineer to lead development of moderately complex engine systems, modules, and test activity for two new growth turboshaft engines. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the interest, aptitude, and experience associated with the design, development, and test of gas turbine engines for defense applications. To meet the needs of the marketplace in the face of stiff competition, the team must rapidly develop the new engines to be the best in the marketplace through execution of world class project management.

The successful candidate will lead the cross-functional engineering team to develop the engine module or system to be best-in-market under strict schedule constraints. The selected individual will provide leadership for all Integrated Product Delivery and Support (IPDS) functions related to the specific module assigned, including schedule, budget, fabrication cost, technical attributes, requirements validation and verification, direct maintenance cost, and qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead design and development activity of the component module or engine system through all aspects of the IPDS process on schedule, on budget and in compliance with all technical requirements. Key aspects include requirements validation and verification, resolution of key technical challenges, acquisition of development hardware, management of fabrication cost and execution of qualification tasks.

· Broad indirect span of control of approximately 10 full time equivalent engineers.

· Cost account manager for assigned scope, including Earned Value Management System reporting. Annual budgetary responsibility approximately $4M.

· Expected to serve as the single point leader for the assigned module or system

o Leadership capability with diverse cross functional team

o Escalate effectively with leadership and cross-functionally across the organization

o Bias toward creative thinking and innovation in product design and approach to everyday work

o Implement design-to-cost and variation-reduction strategies

o Promote and build strong team working relationships

o Manage within very difficult resource constraints

o Identify gaps and risks on behalf of the team

o Balances workload of the team members

o Monitor work of team members to recognize when they are “stuck” or “off track”

o Approves schedules and budgeted time for the tasks of the team members

· Leverages technical experts to review the technical work the team

· Leads trade studies and RCCA activities

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Must be a US Citizen customer contractual restrictions.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • 5+ years’ engineering experience in design, development, and/or test of gas turbine engines or similarly complex mechanical system.

    WE VALUE

  • Program/Project Management experience.

  • Strong cost account management skills.
