Honeywell Sr Advanced Control Systems Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona

Join a team that defines, develops, and integrates propulsion engine control systems within Honeywell Aerospace. As a Sr Advanced Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in engineering electronic engine control system solutions that meet the demanding performance, reliability, and safety needs of our commercial and military aircraft customers. You will contribute your technical knowledge and experiences to design, engineer, and build successful control system solutions through every aspect of the system life cycle from requirements development through verification phases. You will work across organizations to deliver technical and project status communications, to explore cross-functional engineering solutions, and to exercise technical leadership within the ECU mechanical, electrical, and software design teams with focus on meeting the overall control system performance targets and achieving critical milestone targets for the Propulsion Engines business.

Key Responsibilities

· ECU systems team contributor and technical leader

· Customer interaction and technical support

· Customer specification review and analysis

· Requirements decomposition and allocation

· ECU system requirements validation & verification

· ECU conceptual design and partitioning

· ECU system resource estimating and status reporting

· Support of ECU design reviews

· Support of ECU system hardware integration and test

· Support ECU project technical coordination

· May travel to the US and/ or internationally- 10%


· Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering

· Minimum 8 years direct engineering experience on complex systems

· Due to export control regulations, this position requires US citizenship status.


· Must be capable of working cooperatively across technical disciplines (mechanical/electrical, hardware/software)

· Must be capable of working across organizational layers (individual contributors to senior leadership)

· Safety critical engine controller system development a plus

· Proven ability to prioritize and organize concurrent activities

· Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams

· Concise and accurate verbal and written communication skills

· General knowledge of electronics and digital control systems

· General knowledge of propulsion control systems and engine control law concepts

· Working knowledge of Honeywell's electronic product development, manufacturing, and verification processes for safety critical applications a plus

· Working knowledge of industry product development processes for safety critical electronic control systems, including DO-254, ARP4754, and DO-178, and associated product development data management tools, including DOORS and Clearcase/ClearQuest

· General knowledge of aerospace environmental performance specifications such as DO-160 and MIL-STD-810
