Basic Function:

The Specialized Consulting Manager effectively translates commercial lending industry practices and regulatory/caselaw updates into product solutions by authoring legal/compliance content, creating product content design requirements, writing business rules and summaries, and educating internal and external customers on legal/compliance requirements and their implications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex compliance-related projects including the development and maintenance of a library of commercial lending documents to ensure compliance with contractual, federal, and state-specific requirements

  • Function as Commercial Lending Subject Matter Expert

  • Track, review, and analyze complex regulatory/statutory changes, customer requests, and market opportunities, and determine the impact on products; and provide guidance to consultants and product management

  • Provide time, effort, and risk estimates in response to regulatory change and product enhancements

  • Train, coach, and mentor other employees to help them acquire and apply compliance and commercial lending knowledge

  • Author internal and external customer communications (e.g., release notes, alerts, webinars, white papers, etc.)

  • Focus on continuous improvement and drive execution of product and process improvements

  • Provide quality work product on time (within project scope, schedule, and budget) and without defects. Immediately identify and communicate any impediments that put a deadline at risk

  • Work collaboratively with other Wolters Kluwer departments such as Customer Support, Professional Services, and Product Management

Job Qualifications:


  • Juris Doctorate


  • 7-10 years of experience in commercial banking or financial services preferred but not required

  • Significant transactional experience in commercial lending

  • Demonstrated excellence in researching, analyzing, and managing complex products or projects


  • Ability to assess business risk to make sound judgments, recommendations, and decisions

  • An understanding of business strategy to drive individual and team efforts to achieve business objectives and goals

  • Analytical, legal research, and problem-solving skills

  • Clear legal writing, including the ability to describe different loan products in a single lending document using variable rules such as if/than statements

  • Organizational skills, including an ability to budgettime to enable work on multiple projects or tasks

  • Capability to summarize and present legal/compliance issues for both legal and non-legal audiences

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a small team

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and a willingness to learn other software products and tools

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional domestic travel is estimated to be no more than 5% of work time
