A powerful application with enormous potential, Tableau Prep is used with love by data stewards and professionals everywhere, and we continuously work on enhancing its capabilities and reach.
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager for the Prep At Scale team who is passionate about expanding the reach of Tableau Prep by focusing on the engineering to make our product the most widely accessible and easy-to-use ETL tool on the market. This team specifically focuses on reach and scalability aspects of our product including its usage in Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud as well as how to handle the ever-increasing complexity and frequency of workloads as our user base grows. In this role, you will partner with leaders across the Tableau Engineering organization on our Cloud growth strategy, and help make critical advancements in a highly collaborative, healthy and diverse environment.
What you'll be doing...
Lead, mentor, guide, and grow a team of talented engineers to deliver experiences designed to meet the needs of the Enterprise. Your team will build features targeting both Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud.
Drive engineering excellence on the team and foster a culture of continuous learning and obsession around scale, performance, security and usability.
Participate and drive Agile SDLC processes and embrace the continuous improvement mindset.
Partner with Product Management, UX Design, architects and other engineering teams to build delightful experiences and drive customer value.
Contribute to the design and architecture of the product and tackling a wide variety of technical challenges in building systems for large scale data preparation and analyses.

Experienced – You have a strong technical background in service development and are comfortable with cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes. You have excellent analytical and problem solving skills. You are unafraid to tackle hard problems and know how to ask the right questions to drive solutions even in the face of ambiguity. You exercise sound judgement, are wary of blind spots, and can help amplify your team’s strengths. A related technical degree required.
Mentor – You enjoy coaching, guiding, and helping team members to ensure they feel supported, unblocked, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
Quality Focused: You regularly think from the customer perspective and have a successful track record of shipping high quality software to your customers. In addition, you work with those around you to improve the quality of our systems, code, architecture, and engineering practices. You lead by example and hold yourself and your team to high standards.
