Honeywell Senior Advanced Project Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona

This position will involve supporting the Engines and Power Systems (E&PS) organization within the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Project Engineering department. In particular, this position primarily supports a military APU upgrade project. This position is for a Project Engineer III to plan and execute APU development programs along with support of in-service APU for USAF aircraft platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meeting the technical performance measures and project-specific process requirements.

  • Planning all aspects of assigned engineering work scope.

  • Managing requirements, controlling scope, and executing baseline change management.

  • Executing projects within budget (including capital) and on schedule.

  • Utilize EVMS (Earned Value Management System) tools and knowledge, critical for US Government executed programs.

  • Achieving design-to-cost targets and design for manufacturability, test, and reliability goals.

  • Follow US Government Compliance on policies, procedures, and guidelines for new development programs.

  • Communicating project health and status to stakeholders (CBT, M&PM, Engineering leadership).

  • Managing OEM customer relationship; communication, collaboration and status reporting.

  • Able to work closely and effectively with Repair and Overhaul Engineers to address in-service related issues.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical systems engineering experience.

  • Due to Government sponsored program, candidate must be a US Citizen.

  • DOORS experience

  • Experience in generating and tracking project IMS with MS Project

  • Aerospace engineering experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or other Engineering discipline.

  • Previous experience with design, development, and certification of gas turbine engines is preferred.

  • Strong customer focus with proven ability to establish successful relationships with US Government customers.

  • Demonstrated track record for managing requirements and meeting commitments and schedules.

  • Excellent communication skills to positively influence customers, teams and suppliers.

  • Self-motivated, willing to take ownership and lead detailed project plans and budgets.

  • Ability to creatively resolve issues by evaluation of technical data and risk assessments.

  • Able to effectively manage priorities and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.

  • Good planning skills required using program management techniques to execute schedules and tasks.

  • Diverse technical background of aircraft system integration is an asset.

  • Familiarity with technical publications for gas turbine engines is favorable.

  • Operational knowledge and/or experience with legacy military APU applications is desirable.

  • Experience with inspection and repair procedures for in-service units is beneficial

  • Demonstrated use of Six Sigma tools to aid in problem resolution and process improvement.
