This position will involve supporting the Engines and Power Systems (E&PS) organization within the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Project Engineering department. In particular, this position primarily supports a military APU upgrade project. This position is for a Project Engineer III to plan and execute APU development programs along with support of in-service APU for USAF aircraft platforms.
Meeting the technical performance measures and project-specific process requirements.
Planning all aspects of assigned engineering work scope.
Managing requirements, controlling scope, and executing baseline change management.
Executing projects within budget (including capital) and on schedule.
Utilize EVMS (Earned Value Management System) tools and knowledge, critical for US Government executed programs.
Achieving design-to-cost targets and design for manufacturability, test, and reliability goals.
Follow US Government Compliance on policies, procedures, and guidelines for new development programs.
Communicating project health and status to stakeholders (CBT, M&PM, Engineering leadership).
Managing OEM customer relationship; communication, collaboration and status reporting.
Able to work closely and effectively with Repair and Overhaul Engineers to address in-service related issues.
YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of mechanical systems engineering experience.
Due to Government sponsored program, candidate must be a US Citizen.
Knowledge of gas turbine engine technology.
Aerospace engineering experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or other Engineering discipline.
Previous experience with design, development, and certification of gas turbine engines is preferred.
Strong customer focus with proven ability to establish successful relationships with US Government customers.
Demonstrated track record for managing requirements and meeting commitments and schedules.
Excellent communication skills to positively influence customers, teams and suppliers.
Self motivated, willing to take ownership and lead detailed project plans and budgets.
Ability to creatively resolve issues by evaluation of technical data and risk assessments.
Able to effectively manage priorities and multiple projects in a fast paced environment with competing demands.
Good planning skills required using program management techniques to execute schedules and tasks.
Diverse technical background of aircraft system integration is an asset.
Familiarity with technical publications for gas turbine engines is favorable.
Operational knowledge and/or experience with legacy military APU applications is desirable.
Experience with inspection and repair procedures for in-service units is beneficial
Keen understanding of EVMS rules of US Government program execution is a benefit.
Demonstrated use of Six Sigma tools to aid in problem resolution and process improvement.
