Title:Regional Safety Manager
Department: Risk Management

Reports To: Vice President of Risk Management & Compliance

Purpose:

Essential Job Functions:
Promote safety as a core value of the company.
Responsible for DOT, federal, state, local and Company compliance issues throughout the region.
Oversee environmental issues.
Responsible for road operations, demeanor and attitude of the driving force.
Insure loading and unloading procedures for drivers.
Monitor hours of service for drivers & equipment.
Conduct equipment inspections during each site visit.
Respond to, and investigation of, regional accidents and delivery events as necessary, on short-notice.
Conduct safety meetings for all operations personnel (drivers, managers, and shop personnel).
Attend State Safety Council Meetings when available.
Communicate with CSC Manager, Asst. CSC Manager, and Regional Managers about unsafe unloading locations, unsafe products, and type of equipment needed on new accounts.
Responsible for 120 Plan of retention, evaluation and counseling.
Liaison with State & Federal agencies for regulations and policies.
Conduct HS&E audits on all facilities (One per quarter, per location).
Conduct observations on drivers (during operations, pre- and post-trips, loading, and unloading).
Monitor driver performance for compliance with company expectations.
Additional Responsibilities:
Carries out duties assigned by Senior Director of Safety as required.
Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:
Bachelors Degree preferred.
Two years Safety / Risk Management transportation experience with a proven track record preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to speak in front of groups.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of DOT regulations, federal and state laws and standards.
Knowledge and understanding of Compliance, Safety, and Accountability (CSA).
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
Self-starter with detail oriented work habits.
Able to maintain confidentiality.
Display professional demeanor.
Good interpersonal skills; able to work well with wide range of individuals.
Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.
Basic computer skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (PPT, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Knowledge of basic company employment policies and procedures.
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting for long periods of time, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity.
Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds).
Driving a vehicle.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copier/printer/scanners.
50% - 75% travel.

Qualifications
Education:
