Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Senior Environmental Project Manager for immediate employment in our Phoenix, Arizona office. In this role (Environmental Project Manager V), you will be responsible for business development for the Phoenix office as well as managing AECOM staff, subcontractors, technical delivery, stakeholder engagement and communication, and financial management.

Responsibilities for this position may include the following:

  • Responsible for the overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project specific objectives and policies.

  • Provides management and guidance to local AECOM environment staff, enforces company and project policies, and a primary liaison between AECOM and client interface.

  • Interacts with existing and potential clients to discuss AECOM service capabilities, and expand services provided.

  • Provide mentorship to staff regarding means for expanding service opportunities for both existing and new clients.

  • Oversees and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors.

  • Understand site investigation and remediation techniques to drive solutions for our clients.

  • Directs Project Managers with multiple projects.

  • Supervise the performance of senior level engineers, geologists, and scientists, as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating and procurement representatives.

  • Determine and define project scope and objectives.

  • Supervise the management of all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).

  • Predict resource needs and manage resources effectively.

  • Provide technical oversight and quality control.

  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.

  • Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks.

  • Manage more complex clients and projects.

  • Consistently deliver profit margins as planned.

  • Has decision-making authority and directs other Project Managers in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in engineering, geology, environmental science or related field.

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in site investigation, remediation, project management and business development experience.

  • US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • 12+ years of experience in site investigation, remediation, project management, and business development experience.

  • Licensed in the State of Arizona (Professional Engineer or Geologist).

  • Experience working with Local and State of Arizona regulatory agencies.

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certified (current).

  • PMP certification.

  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations.

  • Experience successfully managing environmental projects for various types of clients.

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills.

  • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery.

  • Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences.

  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders.

  • Experience in business development.

  • Have led teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies in support of Federal environmental projects.

  • Occasional overnight travel required.
