Responsibilities Job Summary The Nutrition Outreach Coordinator position will be responsible for providing nutrition and gardening education to families, individuals and groups. The primary focus will be nutrition education and gardening. Other duties include providing nutrition and gardening education programming at partner organizations and assisting with monthly reporting for the AZNN grant. Provides nutritional education. Supervise assigned temporary nutrition interns; participate in scheduling and evaluation of temporary interns. Develops and implements gardening curriculum at Lincoln Learning Center, Desert Mission Food Bank and other community organizations. Schedules and facilitates gardening classes for community members. Assists with the development and implementation of the Desert Mission Community Garden Program. Leads weekly gardening Q&A sessions. Develops relationships with farmers, produce companies, farmer’s markets and community gardens to increase donation of products. Creates and implements healthy food drives at donation sites. Supervises volunteers assigned to the Desert Mission Food Bank garden. Increase Nutrition Outreach opportunities within the Honor Health Network and community. Promotes Desert Mission programs during outreach events. Promotes SNAP (food stamps) during educational outreach. Coordinates scheduled nutrition education outreach events within Honor Health and at community partner sites. Selects and presents approved Nutrition Education curriculum and/or demonstrations to parents, families or other community members. Creates and maintains partnerships with Honor Health departments and community partners to implement successful nutrition education programs. Develops program event and marketing materials including flyers, pamphlets and recipes. Compiles information for invoices, monthly and quarterly reports. Documents and reports all activities including, but not limited to individuals served, product utilization, educational materials distributed. Documents time and effort in appropriate manner for grant purposes. Attends all Arizona Nutrition Network (AZNN) partnership training and webinars. Qualifications Education Associate's Degree In Nutrition or related field Required Experience 1 year working in a role utilizing knowledge of diets/nutrition/gardening (i.e. dietician externship) or related experience. Required Other Comfortable with public speaking/ speaking to large and small crowds. Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Excellent Human Relations and oral/written communication skills. Required Licenses and Certifications Food Service\Food Handlers Card - Food Handlers Card Food handlers card within 7 business days of hire Required Driver License current and valid Arizona driver's license Required Fingerprint Clearance Card - State Current Arizona Dept. of Health Services Fingerprint Clearance Card (Must get fingerprinted within two weeks of hire/transfer date, if no current clearance card. Must renew prior to expiration date in order to remain in compliance.) Required
