Facebook Art Director - Downpour Interactive in Phoenix, Arizona

Summary:

Downpour interactive is looking for an experienced leader in game development with excellent communication skills and a strong artistic eye. As Art Director, you will be setting the vision and direction for the studio's title, Onward. Your role will involve supporting and leading the team, pushing the visual bar and ensuring assets are consistent and of the highest quality. You will have a proven track record within the games industry, experience in leading a creative team and a passion for VR gaming.

Required Skills:

  1. Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of art leads and artists who are chartered with defining the visual targets and the execution of art assets for the variety of projects

  2. Recruit and hire talented contributors

  3. Lead the creative process from concept art to final product

  4. Strong understanding of conceptual, visualization and prototyping skills

  5. Collaborate with production, design, and programming to help identify and implement ideas and features for the project’s vision

  6. Foster a positive and cohesive working environment

  7. Help guide and support artists while also participating in the hiring process

  8. Review artwork regularly and provide constructive feedback while ensuring expectations are of high quality and meet the technical requirements of both mobile and PC VR technology

  9. Share and implement best practices through mentoring to deliver high quality art throughout the project

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. At least 10 years of relevant experience on multiple shipped titles, with 4+ Art team management experience in game development

  2. Communication skills with a proven track record of supervising and managing creative teams

  3. Experience in several mainstream 2D/3D packages such as 3Ds Max, Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush, Substance Suite etc. and well versed in creating and optimizing art pipelines

  4. Well versed in creating and optimizing art pipelines with an understanding of Physically-based Rendering and modern art techniques

  5. Understanding of UI, Visual effects, 3D Modelling, Character art and Animation. Skilled in traditional artistic disciplines

  6. Knowledge about game development and VR technology

  7. Experience working within game editors such as UE4 and Unity, for Console/PC and especially mobile
