Oxford Life Insurance, a division of U-Haul International, is seeking a talented Staff Accountant to work in the Financial Reporting Department of Oxford. This position reports to the Financial Reporting Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare income statements and balance sheet support for assigned Company product lines. Identify and communicate significant financial events and/or trends.

  • Record fixed assets acquisitions and dispositions in the general ledger

  • Calculate and record depreciation of fixed assets

  • Record and allocate operating expenses in the general ledger.

  • Learn and be familiar with both GAAP and Statutory accounting principles for life insurance.

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements along with state specific filings.

  • Review, verify and post interfaced monthly insurance activity from the accounting sub-ledgers to the general ledger.

  • Oversee monthly bank reconciliations of corporate operating bank and other balance sheet accounts as assigned. Research discrepancies, determine source of reconciling items, and make recommendations to improve controls and systems processes.

  • Assist in preparation of audit schedules for internal/independent auditors.

  • Provide support to all other functional areas of the company as needed.

  • Continually strive to provide the highest level of customer services, both internally and externally.

  • Assist in premium tax filings.

    Desired Experience:

    · Minimum Bachelor's Degree in related areas Accounting and Finance.

    · Plus if 1+ years of experience in role of General Staff Accountant

    · Plus if experience is in related areas of Life Insurance, reconciliation accounting, and reporting.

    · Understanding of the GAAP and Statutory concepts a plus.

    · Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products with a focus on Excel and Power Point. General ledger operational knowledge required.

    · Self -starter with hands-on learning ability.

    · Effectively communicate with customers inside and outside of the organization.
