Position Description:

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Overseeing the shift responsibilities of the personnel and activities within the Central Processing Department

Participating in Entity and Department wide initiatives for Patient /Employee safety

Demonstrating awareness of patient/ employee safety when carrying out daily responsibilities of their position.

Contributing in evaluating work performance.

Organizing and coordinating function and activities of the Central Processing Department for assigned shifts

Maintaining established departmental policies and procedures.

Coordinating central supply services with hospital departments in order to provide services promptly and efficiently on assigned shifts

Overseeing sterilization, assembly, and storage of medical supplies and equipment

All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Certified Registered Central Service Technician

and or completion of a Central Processing Training Program and internship within a hospital or medical center required

A High School Diploma or equivalent level of education required

Graduate of a Central Processing or Operating Room Technician Program required

Previous experience as a Central Processing Technician required

Previous supervisory experience preferred

Ability to operate vacuum, displacement, ethylene oxide, and washer sterilizers, aerator cart, and sonic washers

Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instruments

Ability to assemble and decontaminate instrument trays
