Job Description

AECOM’s Structural Bridge Engineering Practice is seeking a mid - level Structural Engineer to be based in the Philadelphia, PA office.

AECOM’s Bridge Engineering Practice in Pennsylvania works on projects across North America, on bridges, and on other transportation structures such as walls and sign structures that are critical to a nation’s transportation network and vital to local communities. The projects include steel and concrete bridges of various types; pedestrian, vehicular, light-rail transit and freight bridges; stationary and moveable bridges; rehabilitation and replacement of bridges, delivered across many clients and through various delivery methods.

This position offers opportunity to work within a well-established group that offers a diverse range of projects, technical challenges, and career development opportunities.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work independently to perform structural engineering tasks.

  • Conceptual, preliminary, and detailed final design of new bridges.

  • Assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges.

  • Use of computer software for the analysis and design of complex bridges and other structures.

  • Preparation of technical specifications, technical reports, design calculations, plans and provisions of construction phase services.

  • Project engineering and project management.

  • Guide junior structural engineers and CAD staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering License (PE)

  • Experience working on PennDOT/PTC projects

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with structures focus

  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience working on bridges and other transportation structures

  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis using CSiBridge or other bridge FE analysis software

  • Experience working on DelDOT, City of Philadelphia, SEPTA or PATCO projects

  • Experience in BIM delivery and/or modelling

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $82,000.00 - $115,000.00.
