Reference #: R3090 Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East is currently seeking a Senior Client Employee Benefits Advisor. The Senior Client Employee Benefits Advisor will be a member of the Firm's Employee Benefits Practice Group (EBPG) and will be supervised by partners in the practice group for whom this individual provides support.

The EBPG is one of the largest and most comprehensive employee benefits and executive compensation law firm practices. We use our skills as counselors and strategists to assist corporate (private and public companies), governmental, and tax-exempt clients in finding creative solution to their employee benefit-related business challenges. We provide legal services related to retirement plan design and administration, fringe benefits and payroll tax, multiemployer plans, and employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) transactions.

This position will reside in our Washington, DC, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Chicago, or Pittsburgh office and offers a flexible hybrid in-office/remote working arrangement.

Key responsibilities

Our Senior Client Employee Benefits Advisors are directly and deeply involved in working with colleagues and clients to address the range of regulatory, compliance and other issues that arise with clients' employee benefit plans and programs. Key work and responsibilities of this position include:

Review statutory, regulatory and other governmental pronouncements to assess the impact on clients' employee benefit plans.

Prepare and amend employee benefit plans to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and to implement plan design changes.

Prepare and revise summary plan descriptions and other employee communications.

Advise clients on how to resolve and correct compliance issues and other technical matters that arise in the day-to-day administration of their employee benefit plans and programs.

Assess impact of corporate transactions (mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, etc.) on clients' employee benefit plans.

Prepare IRS determination letter requests and other governmental filings.

Conduct internal benefit compliance audits of client benefit plans, policies and practices.

Assist in preparation the preparation of EBPG publications and materials (MLBenebits blog posts, LawFlashes, etc.) and participate in Webcasts and other programs to communicate new laws, regulatory changes, and other developments of importance to our clients.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

A minimum of five (5) years of related experience as a member of a benefits consulting team, client service team or a law firm team in the employee benefits practice area. Other relevant experience would also be considered.

Experience with employee benefits health and welfare plans required.

Certified Employee Benefits Specialist certification preferred.

For positions in Washington, D.C., the salary range for this job posting is: $130,865.00 - $209,383.00. For positions in New York, NY and San Francisco, CA, the salary range for this job posting is: $142,244.00 - $227,591. For positions in Washington D.C., the salary range for this job posting is

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only art of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
