University of Pennsylvania Research Associate (PS) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of Molecular biology, mouse genetic engineering and modeling, primary cell culture, animal models of obesity and diabetes, metabolic analyses. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. Candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years postdoctoral experience.

Responsibilities may include Investigate the regulation and activity of cancer-associated fibroblasts in the context of obesity development and diabetes susceptibility. Responsibilities are to manage and drive a research project, including designing and analyzing experiments, preparing data for presentations and publication, and supervising research staff.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to further develop critical research skills, including project management, supervising students and research specialists, writing papers and grant applications. The applicant will also have the opportunity to develop further technical skills in mouse disease modeling, as well as advance capability in bioinformatic analyses.
