It offers a complete portfolio of services to support investigators with end-to-end solutions for microbiome research. The Center is comprised of Sequencing and Bioinformatics Laboratories and is a key component of the PennCHOP Microbiome Program.CHOP is also launching the Center for Microbial Medicine, which will be dedicated to finding cures and improving pediatric health through the lens of the microbiome. The CHOP Center for Microbial medicine will focus on developing microbiome-informed clinical diagnostics and microbiome-based therapeutics. The center will function as a hub for microbiome data partnerships and a conduit for microbiome-based clinical trials. The vision for this center is to introduce novel microbiome-based interventions that will have transformative effects on pediatric health.The two centers seek an Administrative Director to support day-to-day activities and implement strategic and operational plans developed for each center. The Administrative Director will organize and lead the administrative activities (financial and operations) required for all basic, translational, and clinical research conducted under the auspices of the two centers. A person in this role will develop, implement, and manage operational policies to ensure the achievement of each Center's objectives and fulfillment of strategic goals. The role is critical to the development and support of Centers-wide program deliverables and communications. The Administrative Director must be able to maintain confidentiality of information, meet deadlines, work on several projects at once, work independently, and understand the concepts involved in the work performed. Join the future of personalized microbiome-based medicine at CHOP!Job Responsibilities Operations and Management of all research activities within the Center: Develop and maintain tools, monitoring reports, processes, programs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) designed to support the Center's research activities. Collaborate with researchers, external agencies, and institutions to develop cooperative research agreements, grants and contracts. Responsible for the organization and implementation of Center services, programs, protocols, policies and procedures, and performance standards. Develop, validate, and operationalize new service lines for the centers. Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Assist the leadership team with strategy and business development support, and interface with various ancillary groups throughout the hospital, including finance, legal, marketing and business development. Work with the Centers' Directors and the Centers' Leadership team to develop, organize, maintain, and manage the infrastructure and resources necessary to sup ort a significant and quality research program. Supporting Directors' and the leadership team on strategic planning, Core service contract management, and administrative and financial records for all research programs and collaborations.Budgets/Purchasing: Work directly with the Centers' Directors and CHOP Cores Admin to price service offerings in accordance with federal guidelines. Develop and administer annual Center budgets including oversight of annual pilot project recipient budgets and regular monitoring of the centers' budgets. Monitor and track all expenditures. Track record keeping of invoices and payment history. Manage and monitor service contracts. Submit core service work through iLAB, and oversee billing operations for core services. Support the development of customer estimates and grant budgets. In conjunction with the Center Leadership is responsible for procurement of additional funding through grant writing and contributions to philanthropic proposal development Streamline and track processes for ordering Centers' supplies, submit purchase orders, partner with supply chain to source consumables. Approve purchase orders in a timely manner within approval matrix.

Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Required Master's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications At least ten (10) years of clinical research or research administration experience Required At least five (5) years of leadership, management or supervisory experience Required At least one (1) year of grant writing and/or grants management and coordination experience Required At least one (1) year of financial management experience, including budget preparation and management Required At least seven (7) years of leadership, management or supervisory experience in a clinical research or academic environment Preferred At least three (3) years of financial management experience, including budget preparation and management with a hospital or medical school environment Preferred At least one (1) year of resource management, project management and coordination experience Preferred At least one (1) year of editing, including manuscript preparation, galleys, proofs, etc. experience Preferred At least one (1) year of pediatric research experience Preferred
