ManpowerGroup Purchasing Specialist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

One of our leading clients, a baking and snack foods manufacturer is looking for a purchasing expeditor for a 6mth contract role onsite in Philadelphia, Pa (near the Philadelphia Navy Yard)

The Purchasing Expeditor will:

  • Perform Purchasing / Supply Chain transaction to support manufacturing operations

  • Analyze, plan, order and expedite Material purchases

  • Ensure on time delivery of Materials.

Top 3-5 MUST HAVE, Required Skills:

  1. Attention to Detail

  2. Previous purchasing experience

  3. Ability to work in Excel

  4. SAP experience

Technical Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • SAP ERP System

  • Knowledge of Purchasing policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct, Sarbanes-Oxley controls as they relate to the Purchasing function Knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Analytical Skills: Ability to follow procedures to interpret the commodities market Information into KPI charts and reports.

Control Skills: The ability to work under intermittent supervision, following Purchasing guidelines under firm deadlines.

Communication Skills: Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively within supply chain. Meet daily with Sr Accountant to communicate issues.

Education & Experience: Some College required. 3-5 years experience in purchasing and or supply chain experience in a food manufacturing environment.

Physical & Mental Requirements: Excellent problem-solving abilities required. Ability to prioritize tasks and make accurate decision under firm deadlines.

Essential Functions:

  • Process Stock List to determine the amount of Materials needed for Manufacturing.

  • Converts Planned Manufacturing Orders into Purchase Orders.

  • Calls in orders and maintains/ confirms order acknowledgments from the supplier.

  • Schedules Material deliveries and Backhauls.

  • Tracks Material deliveries and backhauls making adjustments to the schedule based on Manufacturing requirements and conditions effecting transportation.

  • Maintains the Receiving Dock delivery schedule and the backhaul schedule.

  • Monitors Material inventory levels Coordinates materials to be returned to the supplier with Receiving, Manufacturing, Lab Materials inspection and Finance.

  • Conducts spot inventory counts to ensure Material inventory coverage for Manufacturing.

  • Maintains Materials inventory held in outside storage locations.

  • Assists the plant controller with period end inventory counts. Solves invoice problems with the Accounts Payable department, Receiving and suppliers.

  • Maintains Key Performance indicators for Materials.

  • Maintains SAP Purchasing Master files.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Supplier site visits / inspections.

  • Special Projects to support Inventory, Lab, formulation verification.

  • Updates to the SAP system through the plant controller.

  • Stay abreast of Material trends.

  • Assist Controller and Sr Accountant in researching specific information used to evaluate material suppliers and material availability.

  • Special Projects and other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions: Office Work. Requires some travel to seminars and supplier visits. On site review of manufacturing operations at the Shop Floor Level.
